This band wasn’t just Layne Staley. I find it incredibly cruel to say “no Layne no Chains” when a band has gone through so much tragedy. Imagine losing. I love each member of this band. Losing two was a knife in the back and the heart. I rejoice in knowing this band isn’t completely gone.

Much like Black Sabbath I prefer Ozzy over Dio, I'll take Layne Staley over Duvall but its tolerable now when you get to the point of Lynyrd Skynyrd you got to quit.

It's so strange that this story never came out until a few years ago. Has anyone ever heard him tell this directly from his own mouth? I’m of two minds about this. I don’t begrudge Jerry wanting to carry on with his career, but to ME, it’s no longer AiC. That said, I’m not going to buy a ticket to a show just to chant “No Layne, no Chains.”

People are still listening to them and going to see them in concert, so more power to them! Obviously it will never be the same without the great Layne, but why not keep going?!

Personally I love that they are going on. They are musicians that’s what they do. They are honoring Layne and Mike every time they play. William is a great addition and he too honors Layne. This is their legacy it’s wrong to judge how they choose to continue it.

We need a new Album though… I like what they are doing and that they are still around! 🤘🏻

I'm sorry but i disagree.... nirvana after kurt died still had "thr major cogs" but it's not the same without kurt. Now honestly ok with alice still going on without layne " it's still not the same" but I believe they should of pulled a 3 days grace and hired tools front man "name evades me" but he sounded very close to layne, at the very least had the essence of alice when he sang with them... I think the only reason they went with Duvall is because it was Jerry's buddy... anybody agree??

It's just the evolution of Jerry's Band. I think it's really unfortunate that this iteration of AIC doesn't get the radio play or hype they deserve. They're still a great band. Jerry Cantrell Stands out head and shoulders above all of the Seattle guitarists.

I remember the first time I listened to the Black Gives Away to Blue CD and it still had that Alice in Chains sound that I loved from the very beginning.

Little known fact-Courtney flew to Rome to hang out when he was there and this is where he gave her a letter saying he was going to leave her and he wanted a divorce. She claims a cop told her she should burn the letter because it didn’t paint a good picture of her but the pi she hired got her to make a copy of it for him first and it wasn’t long after that he went to the hospital there in Rome. She was an hour and a half or so behind him so she could get hair and makeup done before she went. She stood to lose a lot if they divorced due to a pre nip they had. If he died before he announced publicly they were splitting up, she would get his whole estate
